Increased Overdose Risk in Yamhill County That Can Be Fatal

Warning: Unprecedented Overdose Risk in Yamhill County due to Counterfeit Pills

The Yamhill County Health Department and Sheriff’s Office are warning about overdoses related to altered pills and substances laced with fentanyl.

County officials say “the risk has now been enhanced” and “unlike any opioid challenge we have faced.”

Juliette’s House joins in the alarm given our mission, with teens and those dealing with mental health challenges due to past child abuse are at heightened risk.

County officials urge everyone:

  • not to take any pain reliever that does not come from their doctors or a licensed pharmacy
  • to never use opioids alone

Juliette’s House CEO Russell Mark Quoted in New York Times column

Nicholas Kristof’s column in The New York Times – available online May 29 and in print editions May 30 – gives a sweeping overview of the indirect toll of COVID-19 with a call to address the longstanding societal problems.

Kristof details, in both big picture and personal stories, the impact of the pandemic in aggravating many societal problems including childhood trauma. The column from Yamhill’s own includes insights from Russell Mark, Juliette’s House Chief Executive Officer, about isolation and the dangers to children.

Juliette’s House Announces New Chief Development Officer

Yamhill County, OR – Juliette’s House, Child Abuse Intervention Center is pleased to announce the hiring of Krista Basis as their new Chief Development Officer. Krista joined JH in September 2020.

After graduating from the University of Massachusetts, Basis was a community development Peace Corps volunteer in St. Vincent, working with the Save the Children Fund.

She attended the School for International Management, and went on to work as a recruiter and recruitment coordinator for the Peace Corps. She also was a volunteer coordinator for the Denver Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and director of communications and special events for the Webb-Waring Institute at the University of Colorado Denver. New Board of Directors Officers and Three New Board Members for 2020

Yamhill County, OR – Juliette’s House, Child Abuse Intervention Center is pleased to announce the JH board of directors has elected Gary Langenwalter as new board chair. Gary joined the JH board in July of 2018, and is a Managing Partner with Portland Consulting Group. Gary succeeds Ken Wessels, who has served on the JH board since 2015. We are very happy that Ken has chosen to remain as a board member with Juliette’s House and will continue to be a key asset to our organization as we move forward.
