Working with a counselor is one of the very best ways to help children move forward from all forms of abuse.  Counseling teaches children to put the abuse in perspective and not let it define who they are.  Counseling can also teach children to regulate their emotions and behaviors as well as help the parent support the child. Caregivers can also benefit from counseling as these types of situations can be extremely stressful and families must make sure to take care of themselves in order to be able to meet the needs of the child.

The counselor should be skilled in working with children who may be victims of abuse or who have witnessed violence in the home. Juliette’s House assists families in finding these types of counselors in their local community and continues to support the family until they are able to find a counselor that is a good fit for the child’s needs.
