Since 1997 Juliette’s House has provided compassionate child abuse assessments and support to abused and neglected children in Yamhill County and surrounding areas. We work collaboratively with area law enforcement, the DA’s office, Child Protective Services, mental health agencies and Crime Victim Services. Our assessments follow a medical model that involves both a complete medical exam and a comprehensive forensic interview. Our facility is a home-like, child-friendly setting designed to minimize trauma to the child and help make the investigation, treatment and follow-up process less frightening and more successful for the child and the child’s family.
In addition, Juliette’s House provides a wide variety of age-appropriate abuse prevention education programs throughout the community and in schools. We have created a “Prevention Arc” of child abuse education across a lifetime, from preschool through adulthood. Our in-school prevention programs for kids seek to empower children and to stop and prevent abuse. Our adult prevention programs are especially useful to parents and those who work with kids, teaching them how to be proactive and help kids avoid potentially abusive situations, as well as recognize and appropriately intervene when abuse or neglect is suspected.
