Prevention Education Services

Juliette’s House provides a wide variety of age-appropriate abuse prevention education programs for schools and the community. Our intent is to create an arc of education that informs and empowers every age group from preschoolers to adults. We especially strive to reach those who work with children, teaching them to be proactive in avoiding potentially abusive situations, as well as recognizing and appropriately intervening when abuse or neglect is suspected. We report any disclosures of abuse or neglect to law enforcement or the Oregon Department of Human Services.

Erin’s Law

In 2015, the Oregon legislature passed SB 856, also known as Erin's Law. Erin's Law requires the development and adoption of child sexual abuse prevention programs for kindergarten through 12th-grade students in all Oregon public schools.

In Safer Smarter Kids, children learn about personal safety and how to reduce the risk of abuse using proven techniques. The free program has three age-appropriate lessons with activities, songs, and puppets.

We prefer to have 5-30 students per session for the training. To learn more about the curriculum, visit the Lauren’s Kids Foundation at safersmarterkids.org. You do not need to attend a preschool for your child to participate; if you have at least 5 students, we can bring the education directly to you.

  • Elementary School K-5

In Safe Kids, students are taught how to prevent, recognize, and respond to abuse, including bullying and online dangers. The free program includes two lessons with interactive presentations, discussions, videos, games, and skill-building activities.

Safe Kids visits all Yamhill County public schools annually. If your child doesn't attend public school, we can bring the program to your homeschool group, private school, or a school outside Yamhill County. To learn more about the curriculum, visit the Monique Burr Foundation at mbfpreventioneducation.org.

In Safe Teens, students learn about preventing abuse and violence through healthy relationships and safe environments. Lessons focus on boundaries, communication, and consent. The free program includes multiple sessions with discussions, activities, and interactive presentations.

Safe Teens is offered in Sheridan, Newberg, McMinnville, and Amity. Contact us to bring it to your area. The program is available for schools, youth programs, homeschool groups, and faith-based groups. It focuses on violence prevention and healthy relationships, not comprehensive sex education, and is taught in middle and high school health classrooms.

TeenTalk: Navigating Together is a dedicated group program designed exclusively for adolescents and teens.

  • Adults

    Adults

Safer Together is a 90-minute child abuse prevention training for parents, community organizations, and individuals who want to help keep children safe. It covers basic knowledge about child abuse, reporting laws, and prevention tips. Workshops are available on our Events Calendar.

SafetyNet Training is a free collaborative program designed to help children, parents, educators, and concerned adults learn how to keep children safe online. It covers cyberbullying, sexting, sex trafficking, online predators, computer privacy security, identity theft, plagiarism, gaming, and social networking.
