What is a CAC?

Let's explore what a CAC is and how it benefits society in honor of National Be Someone Day, which challenges each of us to take ten seconds to make a difference in a child's life!

CAC stands for Child Advocacy Center. Children who have experienced abuse are welcome to participate in forensic interviews, physical examinations, mental health treatments, and advocacy services at Child Advocacy Centers (CACs), which are kid-friendly, family-oriented establishments.

Child Advocacy Centers bring agencies and professionals together as a team of specialists to facilitate the coordination of comprehensive investigation and intervention services. This multidisciplinary team works together in the investigation, treatment, and prosecution of child abuse cases. Members of the team include mental health providers, medical staff, victim advocates, law enforcement, social services, and legal action. The CAC's main objectives are to make sure that the system meant to protect children doesn't re-victimize them and to maintain the child's best interest.

In addition to giving families necessary assistance and fostering a safer environment for our youth, Child Advocacy Centers (CACs) also make significant contributions to the general safety and well-being of the community. They provide a well-coordinated and humane approach to intervention and prevention, making them an indispensable tool in the struggle against child abuse.

Make a commitment to be the person who influences a child's life today on National Be Someone Day. Above all, show your child or the children in your life that you are here to support their growth by being a present and transparent source of support.
